Just finished the history of Fox from beginning to merger so this was a good continuation even if the focus was different. I enjoyed the info on the NY office, which you don't see very often, in addition to the studio history.Product details

Peter Lev knows Hollywood and its history. If you want a great read that really tells the story of 20th Century Fox, this is the book for you. I highly recommend it!
I was so looking forward to this book about Zanuck. The information was most interesting but the narrator clearly has no knowledge about the movies and movie stars of the past. He mispronounced names of some of the most famous people ever in the movies and also many other basic words in the English language. It's very distracting to have to figure out what he was supposed to be saying.
The research is sometimes excellent, sometimes jumbled. I expected a much different book--but this is a worthwhile;e read for hollywood studio history buffs. Has some good info on studio system at 20th but short changes soooooo many obvious inherent topics of interest. The career of MM was barely touched and she was their all time biggest star. Needed some extra editing prior to publication--buy paper only.
